I love how they cancel out any redness/veins on my lids and make my shadows pop and live up to their full potential. Then ELF came out with these Putty Eye Primers and I was curious. I’d seen some talk about this being a dupe for the MAC Paint Pots, and I wanted to try it for myself to see.Keep on reading to find out what I think! As some of you probably know, I LOVE the MAC Paint Pots and have used Soft Ochre and Painterly as my eye base almost religiously for a long time. Pro Longwear Paint PotI got a review for you all today on the ELF Putty Eye Primer. A long-wearing, blendable eye primer and/or cream shadow that can be worn alone or with other products and lasts for 24 hours.I hope they eventually carry it at other stores that sell ELF to make it easier to get ahold of.Here’s some more detailed info (taken from ELF’s site):Our best-selling putty primer is now the perfect base for any eye look. It’s currently exclusive to Ulta and the ELF website. You get 0.19 oz of product (compared to 0.17 oz for the Paint Pot).
![]() ![]() When swatched. Now concerning the formula of each… the ELF is a little thicker and drier compared to the MAC, which feels more emollient and not as thick. In photos this doesn’t seem to translate well, but in real life, Rose does look darker than Painterly. But when applied to the eyes, they look basically identical. But when swatched side by side, however Rose loos a little darker. Sand doesn’t look like any of the current Paint Pot shades. So looking at both Rose and Painterly side by side, Rose looks similar in shade. Mmd on mac emulatorI did wear tests using the ELF on one eye and the MAC on the other. I find a brush application to be a little patchy/uneven with the ELF.So how does shadow application compare between the two? Very similar. The MAC applies well with either your finger or a brush. I feel this is the best application method for the ELF one, as the warmth of your finger helps warm the product up to spread more evenly across the eyes. Both apply nicely to the eyes with a finger. Microsoft office for mac app stateI have one TINY dry patch on my left eyelid, and had to add just a touch of a thick cream to that lid before applying the ELF primer, or the dry patch would stick out like a sore thumb. If you have dry eyelids, this eye primer might be a nightmare for you as it will cling to dry patches unless you add some extra hydration to you lids before application. Color and performance wise, absolutely. Is it a dupe for the MAC Paint Pot? Yes and no. Every shadow looked great applied over the ELF primer and lasted all day, just like the MAC Paint Pot does for me, which was very impressive.Overall, I really like the ELF Putty Eye Primer. I feel even those with normal lids would enjoy this product. And that’s it! Have you tried the ELF Putty Eye Primers? Do you like them? Sound off below in the comments.
